Turn your passion into a career and make $$$ from your travels
If you dream of living the romantic life of a travel writer where you are getting paid to explore the globe then read on and let us show you how.
Many magazines and newspapers rely on freelance contributions to fill their pages. Travel editors are always looking for well-written articles accompanied by photographs. If you have read the travel sections of newspapers and magazines and believe you could write something too, then you most probably can.
There are a number of opportunities available to travel writers. These include being a staff writer on a newspaper or magazine, writing travel guides and travel literature and being a presenter or researcher for a TV or radio travel program. Most of these jobs require you to have completed a degree at university or college and then it is often only luck that will allow you to work in these areas. Providing freelance travel articles and photographs to publications is another kettle of fish because you don't necessarily need to be a qualified journalist or photographer to supply articles or photos. As long as you have the necessary skills then you should be able to make money from your travel writing.
To provide freelance travel articles to markets you need three things:
- The ability to write a great travel article
- Able to shoot and send an accompanying photograph
- The ability to approach markets effectively by having a winning introduction letter
These skills can be gained by undertaking a short course in travel writing such as LiveWork&Play’s Correspondence Freelance Travel Writing Course.
If your dream is to become a freelance travel writer and make money from your travels but you are wondering where on earth to start, you have come to the right place to get your career started.
